Transition Moldings & Treads

REDUCERS
Reducers ease the change in height from one floor level to the next. Available in two stock profiles and as custom profiles, reducers can be made from the same specie as you flooring.

SADDLES OR THRESHOLDS
Saddles usually go between floors at doorways. They can be flush (level with the floors) or raised. They can also be used as wide reducers.

BULLNOSE
Stairnosing or bullnosing is the end of the flooring where it comes to a staircase or step down.

SHOE MOLDING
Shoe molding belongs as the edge of the floor up against the baseboard. In the old days, when wood was often not dried as well as it is today the purpose of shoe was to cover up spaces. The traditional 3 piece base had shoe, mopbeard, and cap.
Today shoe is often decorative, and attached to the baseboard. Profiles vary although there are a few popular ones.

STAIR TREADS
Treads are available in most species. We glue them up from 2 to 4 pieces to improve stability.

LUMBER
You can purchase lumber to match your flooring in any species.
